Gavin McGibbon is a M.A. graduate of Ken Duncum's Scriptwriting course at the IIML. Gavin is also a graduate of the New Zealand Film School 2003 and according to one reviewer "he could be our answer to Neil LaBute" (Theatreview).
The Con is his Circa debut and his seventh play produced in eight years. After Service 2006, Stand Up Love 2007, Shipwrecked Beneath the Stars 2008, Handy Man 2008, Hamlet Dies at the End 2011 and Holding On 2012. He won the Playmarket Write Out Loud award in both 2008 and 2009 with his plays Under the Hood and Holding On. McGibbon has written for Radio New Zealand, has worked as a scriptwriting mentor for EAT (Emerging Artists Trust), lectured Honours in Scriptwriting for Victoria University and taught Scriptwriting for Victoria Continuing Education.
